Nana Kwasi Agyekum-Dwamena is a renowned administrator and a civil servant of tremendous experience and intellect. His vision is to continue to lead reforms and positive interventions in public sector management and systems for enhanced service delivery. Nana Agyekum-Dwamena has a Master of Business Administration from The ALMEDA University, USA, another Master of Arts in Organisation Development, University of Cape Coast and a Post Graduate Diploma in Organisation Development from the same university.
Nana’s managerial and leadership experience spans over a period of three decades where he started as a Management Analyst in the Management Services Department and rose to become the Head of the organisation. He has also served as Honorary Director of Eden Mission Establishments providing strategic leadership organisation for the development and implementation of organisations’ plans and programmes. He became the Head of Reform Coordinating Unit of the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS) from 1995-2000 and later the Director of Performance Management Directorate of the OHCS. Nana Agyekum-Dwamena has risen through the ranks to become the Head of the Civil Service since 2014.
Nana Agyekum-Dwamena is not only an administrator but also a trainer and a consultant. He has participated and presented papers at local and international conferences, seminars and workshops in the areas of policy building, policy analysis, human resource, performance management and change management. He also contributed to discussions on Public Administration Systems at international platforms such as the African Association of Public Administration and Management (AAPAM), the Commonwealth Administration for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) and the Centre for African Training and Research Administration and Development (CAFRAD), among others.
Nana Agyekum-Dwamena has served on a number of committees such as the Committee of Experts reviewing the African Union Commission’s Recruitment Systems, the Public Financial Management Steering Committee, and the World Bank Steering Committee on Bureaucracy Lab. He also chaired committees including the Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills Committee, to investigate management practices and financial malfunctions in organisations; the National Programme Committee for Local Service Delivery and Governance, a DANIDA funded project; and the Joint Government of Ghana and Development Partners Technical Team for the implementation of Functional Organisational Assessment Tools (FOAT) Project in Local Government.
Nana Agyekum-Dwamena is a member of the, Ghana Association of Consultants, The Honourable Order of Kentucky Colonels of USA, and an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants, Ghana, and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Directors, Ghana.
Nana Agyekum-Dwamena has led/participated virtually in all the major public sector reforms/initiatives since 1989.
Internationally, he is the current Chair of the African Union’s Panel of Experts on improving the Africa Union Commission’s Recruitment processes.
