Paschal Baylon Atengdem (PhD) holds a BSc degree in Agriculture (Hons. Agric. Econs), University of Ghana, an MSc and PhD in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Reading, UK. He was a Faculty of the Department of Agricultural extension, University of Ghana, for more than two decades. As Senior Lecturer and Head of Department he played a leading role in mounting and teaching several courses in the graduate studies (MPhil and PhD) programmes. He continues to serve as an external lecturer, examiner and supervisor of graduate thesis in several Universities.
He was a member of the Task Force for the Design and Establishment of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Eastern Region, Ghana.
Until recently he was the Vice President for the GTEC-accredited Millar Institute for Transdisciplinary and Development Studies (MITDS) – a private university in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region of Ghana. As Vice President he was responsible for the academic structures, quality assurance and control for courses, staff, and logistics to attain the academic goals of MITDS.
He gained a depth of University management and administration from serving on the following: University Academic Board, University Disciplinary Board, Board of the School of Agriculture, Publication Committee, University of Ghana, Management Committee – Institute of Adult Education, University Admissions Board, Faculty of Agriculture Appointments Review Committee, Board of the Faculty of Social Science, Tutorial Board, Legon Hall, Executive Committee, UTAG, Legon Branch, Board of Management of Agricultural Research Stations, University of Ghana, Legon, Head of department, and Examinations officer.
Dr Atengdem has also been engaged as a consultant in development work for over 30 years. He has vast experiences as a consultant in Baseline studies, Project Appraisal, Development and Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Gender in Development, Value Chain Analysis, and Training/ Capacity Building. He has carried out more than 80 consultancy and research studies in these areas, amongst other developmental issues for Government and Non-Governmental Organisations, Bilateral and Multi-lateral Donors and Development Organisations. He has extensive experience in the consultancy services both in Ghana and several other countries including Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Liberia and South Africa, amongst others.
